My favorite photograph of all time: “In No Man’s Land” by Tony Vaccaro, March 1, 1945. Tony Vaccaro was an infantry soldier in WW2 who took amazing photos like this one, taken during the Battle for the Rhine. He used the same camera as mine —a 1939 Argus C3 Rangefinder—and developed many of his photos in army helmets on moonless nights. My takeaway: if he can do that under those conditions, I have no excuse. Photo copyright Tony Vaccaro.
